Route
The starting point of the “Expedition-Trophy” race is the lighthouse on the shore of the Kola Bay. On the 23rd of February 2006 it will become the start-off point for 50-70 teams. The finishing date of the race is March, 8th 2006, the finishing place — the lighthouse of Vladivostok.
The route of the “Expedition-Trophy” stretches for 16 thousand kilometers through 8 of the most picturesque regions of the country: Kola Peninsula, Karelia, Central Russia, Volga Region, Ural, Siberia, Trans-Baikal and the Far East.
The main cities on the way of Expedition Trophy race 2006 are:
- Murmansk — 23 Feb 2006;
- St. Petersburg — 24-25 Feb 2006;
- Moscow— 25-26 Feb 2006;
- Perm — 27-28 Feb 2006;
- Yekaterinburg — 28 Feb - 01 March 2006;
- Novosibirsk — 02 March 2006;
- Irkutsk — 03-04 March 2006;
- Blagoveshchensk — 07 March 2006;
- Vladivostok — 08 March 2006.
It is also planned to drive through the following cities: Petrozavodsk, Vladimir, Nizhny Novgorod, Cheboksary, Kazan, Izhevsk, Tyumen, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Ulan-Ude, Chita and Khabarovsk.
As was promised by the Organizers earlier, in 2006 there will be more special zones (SZ) than in the 2005 race. Next year their number will reach 8. Meanwhile the Technical Commissariat plans to locate the first special zone somewhere in Karelia (the exact spot is being defined), then in Moscow, Perm, Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, on the Baikal island Olkhon, on the river Shilka in Chita Region and in Blagoveshchensk. On the Baikal the race will be held on the 4th and 5th of March, on Shilka — the 6th of March 2006.
The Teams Gathering Place (TGP) is to be arranged in Murmansk, in the first SZ in Karelia, in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Perm, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, on the Olkhon (an ice camp), on Shilka, in Blagoveshchensk and Vladivostok.
